Misunderstanding - Day 7 Pt. 2

Day 7, Late Afternoon
“Kaito-nii…?” Miku looked for him in his room, but he was not there.
Miku scratched her head, wondering where he is. Suddenly, she felt a nudge from behind her. It was the one person she was looking for, who just entered the room.
“Hey Miku, what you doing here?” Kaito asked her.
“Ah, there you are.” Miku faced him. “Rin is insisting we vist Teto’s house. She has a hunch Len could be hiding there, if he’s alive… I believe Len is alive, he’s just hiding!”
“You think so, Miku? I mean, Len has the motive to hide behind Teto, but would he really put her at risk?” Kaito briefly wondered, but shook his head abruptly later, shrugging it off. ”Nah, if you think he’s there, it’s worth checking.”
“Okay. If Len isn’t dead, he is hiding for sure. If he only knew how much Rin-chan is missing him.” Miku said.
“Then we shouldn’t waste time. What time are we going?” Kaito asked.
“Meiko-san’s just refreshing herself, then we’re good to go.” Miku replied. “Oh… and yeah, Kaito-nii… may I ask you something?”
At this point, Miku closes the door, and faces Kaito, staring into his eyes.
“At this time? What would you ask about?” Kaito was wide-eyed, especially with Miku’s looks towards him.
“Is it true? Onii-chan said you love me. Do you really love me, Kaito-nii?” The way Miku asked looked as if it was a common matter, not something special, likening her to a naïve child.
“M… Miku… yeah… Although admitting it straight feels really awkward…” Kaito scratches his head, embarrassed.
“Good. Now kiss me. That’s how lovers are, right?”
“So soon, Miku??” Kaito was shocked, trying to step away.
But Miku stepped forward, walking towards him, with Kaito stepping back in confusion until he stumbled and ended up sitting on the bed.
“Kaito-nii… what’s wrong? You act like a girl like that!” Miku teased.
Kaito sighs, and stands up, looking at Miku. Remembering that they have a trip to make, and quick, he lowered himself to Miku’s face level and kissed her lips.
But as he tried to pry apart, Miku suddenly clutched his head and maintained that position.
Kaito’s shock is unspeakable. It was true. Miku also had feelings for him!
But as they pulled away from each other, they realized the door was already opened, exposing the full view of the steamy scene to Mikuo and Meiko, and Akaito from behind.
“Kaito! Miku is too young for you! Why do that?” Meiko, in an exasperated tone, made her opinion known. But with the tone of her voice, it was hard for them to tell if she disapproved it, or if she was merely joking.
“Now now, Kaito. Remember. No kinky stuff with my sister~” Mikuo reminded him with a wry grin. Deep inside however, he knew something would happen eventually, and he was totally fine with it.
Miku’s face was red in embarrassment as well, as was Kaito’s and facefaulted.
Akaito stepped in further. “I should be calling you lover-boy now, you girly boy you. You and your girlfriend needs to get ready, we are storming Teto’s house.”
The word “girlfriend” made Miku give a short but tense laugh, before fainting from embarrassment. Kaito caught her before she fell, but as if retaining her senses, comically pushed Kaito aside, and crouched in a corner in further embarrassment.
“But yeah, man, if you ever kiss Miku in front of fans, prepare to get hate mail and death threats!” Akaito jested.
“Enough of this nonsense, you… Let’s get going.” Meiko, still embarrassed and upset, barked.

“I got the money, Len-kun!” Teto triumphantly waves the envelope, as she marched in.
“Well, congratulations, Teto-chan. You showed your brother who’s boss!” Len said.
“Hmmph! Ted should earn his own money from here on.” Teto impishly said. “Say, Len-kun… wanna go somewhere?”
“Eh? But I can’t go anywhere! People are now looking for me! There’s a reward money now for people who can find me!” Len complained.
“Oh no!” Teto is alarmed. “But we have to at least go somewhere out of the house!”
“Isn’t there any other option?” Len asked.
“We have to leave because my brother is sure to come over here if he finds out the money’s gone. I don’t like to see him, frankly.”
“Then we have no choice. Lend me some girl clothes, Teto-chan. I will have to dress up like a girl!”
“Eh? I thought you hated it??” Teto asked.
“The situation’s changed. I’d rather dress up like a girl and have my panties seen than being whisked back into the VOCALOID house!” Len replied. “The more girly I look, the less it will draw suspicion. Maybe you’ll need to disguise too, Teto-chan.”
“Well then, a change of hairstyle for me…” Teto began undoing her drill locks. Both ran upstairs and began dressing up.

“Teto… how dare you scorn your brother in front of the office…” Ted was seething with anger, as he stood and gripped the handle rail in the bus tight like a vise.
“As your elder brother, I will not tolerate your upstaging. I will show you what happens when you mess with me!”
Taking a bus that leads to her house, Ted is all scowls, thinking of how to make Teto cough up the money he needs.
“I promised the guy. I can’t make another excuse or I’m done for!” Ted, gritting his teeth, mentally shouted. “That money has to be produced or I’m dead meat!”

Now with all of them in a van, Rin heatedly insisted they visit Teto’s place. All are puzzled as to why, apart from them knowing Teto had involvement with Len before.
“This is a serious thing to consider. Are you sure about this?” Meiko asked.
“Yes I am.” Rin firmly said.
“You do know we cannot do this properly without police assistance. We should’ve called them first.” Meiko replied.
“If we have the police, the media won’t be far behind. I don’t want them dogging us all the time especially with a problem like this!”
“But Rin! Teto has a job like us and it won’t be likely she’ll be there. Don’t do something irrational over an impulse.” Meiko warned.
“I know I have a feeling… a gut feeling…” Rin has determined that she must confront Teto. A fiery look was all over her face. “She can’t harbor Len without consequences!”
“Rin-chan, just how sure are you that Len could be there?” Miku asked worriedly.
“I don’t know… I don’t care. It’s my gut feelings. I must find out! We won’t know if we don’t try!” Rin snapped.
“And if we don’t find him there?” Akaito asked.
Rin did not reply, and instead glared at Akaito, as if to disdainly rebuke at him for insulting her intuition.
“Meito, I’ve never seen Rin like this.” Mikuo hushingly said.
“Let’s give her a chance. Her hunch might be right.” Meito replied.
Meiko and Kaito merely sighs as the van speeds along the road.

“Quick!” Teto gives Len a handbag while she takes a purse.
Both of them, now convincingly female, step out casually after locking the door to avoid detection.
As they stepped onto the other side of the road, they hear a sudden sound of a van arriving into the place. Both are instantly aware it was heading for Teto’s house.
“I… IT’S THEM!” Len mentally shouted. He knew the sound of the van well, having rode it before.
“K… Kouhai-chan… we have to hurry or we’ll miss the sale!” Teto’s queue to put up a disguise was to act like a jolly schoolgirl.
“Yeah, off to the mall we go!” Len could sound convincingly like a girl and walked the road hand-in-hand to the nearest bus stop. A bus arrived soon after, with both of them boarding.
What they didn’t know is that it was the same bus Ted took, who just alighted from it earlier in the bus stop far from Teto’s house!

“TETO KASANE!! OPEN UP! WE KNOW YOU ARE IN HERE!!!” Rin angrily shouted. “STOP HIDING MY BROTHER!!!”
There was no response. The house seems to be occupied but the lights are just dimly lit.
“Damn it!” Rin shrieked. “Is she not there?! Or is she hiding!?!”
“RIN! STOP THIS!” Meiko barked, but it was too late. Rin was making way for the back door, but as she banged her fists on the door, the house alarm triggered.
“That’s right! Sound the alarm! My brother is being kidnapped! By this wench who is residing here but refuses to answer me!” Rin screamed as she tried to pull the knob free.
“… Did you just call… my sister… a wench?” A looming figure of a man was behind Rin, his shadow casting over her.
It was Ted. It was his habit to enter from behind, and Teto would answer it when he came over. But she was not in the house.
“AND WHO ARE YOU?!” Rin stared at Ted menacingly.
“Who I am? I am Ted Kasane, brother of Teto. And you’re trying to break in her house.”
“I frankly don’t give a fuck.” Rin replied hotly. “Take me to your sister. NOW.”
“After trying to break in? I’m calling the police. You’re breaking in my sister’s property.”
“You DARE!? YOUR SISTER!! YOUR SISTER IS DATING MY BROTHER AND SHE DISAPPEARED AT THE SAME TIME MY BROTHER DISAPPEARED!!!” Rin is now homicidal and is lunging at him.
Ted anticipates the action and dodges her. Rin promptly gives chase and was trying to corner him. While running, he grabbed his phone and successfully dials the police hotline.
“Hello? My sister’s property is being invaded by a crazy girl… I recognize her, she’s from the VOCALOID group!” Upon glancing, Ted notices the presence of the other VOCALOIDs. ”She brought the entire crew of VOCALOIDs here and I have no idea what they’re up to!”
“Sir, who is this?” the operator asked.
“I am Ted Kasane, the property owner’s brother, Teto Kasane is my sister. Please send help RIGHT NOW!”
Rin finally catches up, and knocks Ted down. Rin rains down punches on Ted.
“TELL ME WHERE MY BROTHER IS!!! TELL ME!!!” Rin screamed.
“Ted? Ted are you there? I can hear screamings and things crashing, we’ll dispatch someone right there!”
Having called the police, Ted shields himself from further damage, as Rin relentlessly assaults him. Ted now sustained injuries as a result.
“SPEAK UP! YOU KNOW WHERE MY BROTHER AND HIS WHORE IS!” Rin crumpled his collar. “IF YOU FIGHT BACK AND TOUCH ME I WILL SEND YOU TO JAIL!”
“Really? You think you’re invincible?” Ted arrogantly stares at Rin’s eyes. “Don’t forget you are at MY SISTER’S PROPERTY. You being an idol doesn’t make you above the law!”
Rin replied with more bodily assaults. Soon, Kaito and Meito arrives, and discovers Rin assaulting Ted.
“RIN! STOP THAT!” Meito restrains Rin and pries her away.
“GET OUT OF MY WAY!” Rin resists, but Meito’s arms are much stronger, and Rin is wriggling free.
Akaito tries to pull Ted off to safety.
Sirens soon wail in the distance, and the police were in the scene.
Rin ran to the police. “MY BROTHER! HE’S HIDING IN THAT HOUSE AND THIS MAN IS KEEPING ME FROM SEEING HER!”
Instead of listening to her, the policeman was already poised to snap handcuffs to her wrists.
“Positively identified assault suspect, profile matches based on description given.” The police radioed instead that Rin was positively identified as the one who assaulted Ted. “Expected bruises and blood from her fists spotted. Will commence arrest right away.”
“W… WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?!” Rin shrieked. She is paralyzed by the sudden turnabout of the situation. She was genuinely expecting the police to side with her.
The police help up Ted, whose mouth is bleeding, and was barely squinting.
“That girl, and those guys… ” he mustered enough energy to speak. As soon as he uttered the words, the policemen approached the other VOCALOID members.
“Hold it right there. We’re all taking you in.” The police officer declared that the entire crew is going to be booked.
“Officer! This… this has to be a mistake!” Meiko frantically explained.
“Miss, a man has been injured in here, and those people from your group, three individuals and that girl attacked him.”
“WAIT! You got it all wrong! That’s not what we’re here for!” Kaito alarmingly said.
“Well, we will get to the bottom of that. But for now, all of you are under arrest. Invasion of private property, and for that girl over there, physical injuries.”
“A… ARREST?! YOU GOOD FOR NOTHING POLICEMEN!!!”  Rin screamed, as more policemen subdued her as she tried to wriggle away free and even try to run. They could not snap handcuffs into her, and thus the policemen grabbed her by the arm and legs and bodily carried her away. With her being carried away by her arms and legs, modesty became a much desperate afterthought. Rin could only scream profanities and yell, as she’s taken away.
“Buddy! You got it all wrong!” Akaito turned to Ted. “We’re not here to break in! And we’re not here to bust you up or anything.”
“Tell that to the marines, amigo.” Ted replied, as he wiped the blood from his cheeks.
“Come on! Be reasonable here! I even dragged you to safety!” Akaito pleaded, as handcuffs were snapped onto his hands.
Even Meiko and Miku were not spared, and were arrested as well.
“Officer! Why me too!?” Miku alarmingly asked the officer.
“I’m sorry, Miss Hatsune. Even if I like your singing voice, your group has some explaining to do. Nothing personal.”
The officer snaps handcuffs onto Miku’s wrist.
Miku’s eyes welled, and tears flowed from her cheeks. After Kaito was led in to the police car, she was next to be brought inside.
Her eyes were blank. No sobbing voice, no resistance. Only silence.
Rin was crying violently in the other police car, demanding to be released.
“Kaito…” Meiko, in a shaking voice, asked him. “How did it turn out like this… why did we become the villains so suddenly…?”
“Meiko…” Kaito openly wailed. “I don’t know! This has to be a nightmare! We only were looking for Len, but… but…”
“Kaito… nii….” Miku broke her own silence “What did we do wrong to Len to deserve… this…?”
“Shit man… we’re going to the big house.” Akaito, in contrast, was more relaxed.
“Man, being arrested sucks.” Meito said. “What will the people say if they find out about this?”
“Rin got us into this mess.” Mikuo muttered. “Geez.”
It did not take long before a crowd gathered in the scene. Meiko, Kaito and Miku bowed down to cover their faces.
Rin’s shrieks and pleading was audible in the crowd, with many taking pictures. When she saw the people taking pictures of her in this state, this was where she realized the situation, and openly sobbed, but could not cover her face due to being handcuffed. Out of pity, the accompanying officer covered Rin with his coat as the police convoy drove away.

“L… ah… Kouhai~ Just look at this!” Teto showed her around in a shopping mall.
Len and Teto perfectly pulled of the disguise, themselves as schoolgirls with completely different outfits and hairstyles. It blended with both of them. It would seem that Len looked way more feminine than Teto herself.
“Senpai, I wish this would fit me.” Len played along, disguising his voice as well.
“Silly, it would~!”
“But I want something else… can’t we look at that place?” Len was getting the hang of pretending to be a girl.
Little did they know that they got out in the nick of time. Or Rin would’ve cornered them. Or Ted would’ve blackmailed her.
While the two roam scott-free, their desires to be free caused imprisonment for the others.

“Hey look Nee-san, Len’s a drag queen!”
Haku curiously observed the overhead view of two female figures leaving the house. Even from the top view, it was obvious both were dressed up different.
“And there they go…” Dell tracked the movements of Len and Teto as they quickly left the house. Minutes later, the VOCALOID crew were in the premises, and a girl with yellow hair was surveying the area.
“Rin’s nearly that close to getting her brother back.” Dell said.
Haku could only look sadly as she watched the incident transpire from the satellite.
“Oh my… the police… took them… Miku-chan… Meiko-san… Kaito-san…. They were arrested?” Haku found the situation surreal, seeing them taken to a police car from above.
“The stupid girl looking for her brother attacked someone. The guy also has red hair. Not quite sure who he is.” Dell explained.
Haku could only feel pity, as she is powerless to influene or help them. Dell felt apathetic.
“Good luck to them getting out on bail.” Dell said, as he closed his laptop. “Looks like they’ll become has-beens very soon with this scandal.”
“Dell, that’s rather cold of you to say that.” Haku complained.
“Frankly nee-san, it’s something I’ve always wanted to see, them being arrested.” Dell reminisced his times of being upstaged, and being outshined by other VOCALOIDs. “For robbing our future… and your future too…”
“That’s mean, Dell… they have nothing to do with the hands that actually did that to us…”
“Still…” Dell coldly replied. “A part of me still resents how I’ve been thrown out of there.”
Haku pleadingly looks at Dell, as if asking him to soften his stance.
“This isn’t going to bode well for them.” Haku softly said. “They don’t have blood on their hands, you know…”
“I wonder if Len will see all this on television?” Dell wondered. “He’ll be glad to know he just dodged capture.”
Haku sighs.
“I just hope Len really knows what he’s doing and how his running away is gonna wreck their carreers.” Dell said. “I do sympathize what he’s going through, though.”
“Do you think they’re given breaks like your company does?” Haku asked.
“I never had the chance to find out myself. And from how Len’s acting, I don’t think so.” Dell replied. “Did you see how Len acted when we met him? He was totally washed out and burnt to the last filament. I could feel it from his voice and his aura.”
“And if he didn’t meet Teto, things would’ve been far worse. He could’ve just killed himself like many others do.” Haku said. “Heck, that suicide cave thing might’ve been really him in there if things were different.”
“For me, suicide is for pussies. I may be down on the mud but you never once saw me bawl out in despair. I always find a way.” Dell proudly said as he changed the view of the satellite to a nondescript place.
“I think that’s what being a VOCALOID kickout taught you.” Haku replied. “Or we wouldn’t have these things despite not raking so much paychecks.”
“You better learn some of that resourcefulness too yourself Nee-san.” Dell smirked. “Don’t just leech on me for your booze.”
“Oh you meanie~!” Haku slaps Dell’s shoulders playfully.
